Three ways to practice mindful gardening!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, gardening is a mindful hobby. If you plan to practice mindfulness while tending to your garden it’s important to prepare and get the most out of your time.

  1. Get rid of distractions - in this day and age it's super easy to get distracted, so make sure before you step out to your garden, you put down your phone and completely unplug. Whatever pressing issues you have going on will still be there when you get back.

  2. Plant intentionally - when you decide to plant, submerse yourself into the event. Notice the texture of the soil, the seedlings in your hands and the sounds of the water hitting the soil when you’re done.

  3. Use weeding as a way to get rid of negativity - every weed you pull out is a stressor in your day-to-day life. Think of this activity as a symbolic way to rid your stressors, just like you’re doing in your garden.

Next time you garden, make sure to refer to these three tips, I’m sure you’ll feel the difference!
