Saving seeds is a way to preserve the type of plant you’re currently growing for the next season. There are three steps to saving seeds:
Picking the right seeds from the right plants,
Harvesting them at the right time, and
Properly storing them until you’re ready to plant.
For tomato seeds, allow the fruit to fully ripen on the plant and then take out the seeds and pulp. Place this into a jar with water and swirl them around everyday for three days. This will allow the seeds to separate from the pulp without damaging them. Once the seeds have sunk to the bottom of the jar, drain the water and let them dry on a paper towel. Once they’ve fully dried, store them in an envelope or little baggie in a cool and dry place!
