Thyme is actually a part of the mint family, and it’s just as easy to grow!
When growing thyme there are a few things you need to remember:
Thyme needs full sun and loves the heat,
It can be a little hard to grow from seed so it is recommended you get an already started plant from your local market OR propagate from a cutting,
Thyme roots do not like to stay wet, the best way to explain is this plant loves a good drought,
When watering, make sure the soil is completely dry before doing so,
The best time to harvest thyme is right before the plant flowers, and
To harvest cut off the top 5-6 inches, leave all the woody parts and make sure the plant still has 5-6 inches leftover so it can replenish itself.
Like sage, thyme has many benefits. This plant has anti-bacterial properties which can help with acne, lower blood pressure and boost your immunity. It also produces flowers which help our bees!
