How to grow Rosemary

Writer's picture: Mikayla Mikayla

If you give rosemary free reign of your garden, it can actually grow to be over three feet in height!

When planting rosemary keep these points in mind:

  • It needs full sun,

  •  Likes well-drained soil and does not like to be constantly wet,

  • Make sure the soil is dry to touch before watering it or else it will cause root rot,

  • Seedlings can take 14-21 days to grow but you can also grow rosemary from cuttings, and

  • The more you prune rosemary the bushier your plant will be, when harvesting take off 1/3 of the plant but give it enough time to grow back before you clip again.

Rosemary is a seasoning you can use in soups, casseroles, salads and stews as well as a number of meats! Rosemary can actually improve digestion and increase circulation. It's a perennial, meaning if you plant it once, it will keep coming back!
