How to grow lavender

There are so many uses for lavender, it has a wonderful scent, is a beautiful plant and has many health benefits like improving sleep.

When planting remember these points:

  • It needs full sun,

  • Well-drained soil,

  • If you’re starting from seed, barely cover with soil and they’ll sprout in 14-21 days as long as they’re warm,

  • When trimming back the plant, leave space between the woody stem and flowers so the lavender will continue to grow,

  • Harvest just as the flowers begin to open, you can dry the leaves or use fresh!

Lavender attracts bees and butterflies so you could let it grow out and watch the wildlife it brings to your doorstep, or you could harvest it and add it to tea, your bath or put dried leaves in a small breathable bag and use it as a natural air freshener!
